Dissecting open innovation
The Association for Project Management website posted a slide show and article on open innovation and intellectual property. In taking up when and how to practice open innovation, it is vitally important to understand what the external party is seeking from a relationship as this will heavily influence the success of any such venture. Talking about differing objectives leads nicely into the question of legal agreements and the article provides an insight into these. Firstly, they must form an integral part of any collaboration between two parties, whether they be companies or individuals. Secondly, there are common pitfalls within legal agreements that may be exploited by the larger of the parties to the detriment of the smaller.
