The Topcoder site reports that starting later this month, NASA and DARPA, in partnership with MIT and Aurora Flight Sciences, will be turning to an Open Innovation competition that they are hoping will create extreme value algorithms that push forward several key projects and innovations where autonomous space object capture will be at the core of their success. In Space, objects tend to float, and tumble and rotate. NASA and DARPA are aiming to develop advanced algorithms that allow for autonomous capturing of floating space objects.
