Open Innovation: Creating Through Community
An article on the crowdsourcing website draws lessons from Henry Chesbrough’s 2006 book “Open Business Models,” in which he describes a rising field of companies which specialize in innovation. He calls these companies “innovation intermediaries.” There are many kinds of intermediaries, from agents to intellectual property marketplaces. While the field is still relatively new it is beginning to mature. The article describes the work of a number of companies which are innovation intermediaries.
