Startup Shakes Up Bamako’s Public Transit
The World Bank website reported that Teliman, an on-demand transport mobile app, was launched by a World Bank-sponsored hackathon to facilitate open innovation between local start-ups and Toyota’s African subsidiary CFAO. Teliman is aimed at helping solve transportation problems in Bamako, the capital city of Mali. The hackathon also generated a team of developers for Teliman, demonstrating the potential of open innovation to attract and identify real talent. Teliman could create 20,000 jobs for the Malian population and is a testament to what can be achieved from open innovation. It brought together different actors together to develop a solution to a development challenge.
