Lawson: Dig Deeper into Your Customer Base
The Web In Travel website reported that in trying to build a convenience store for the future, Lawson, which has more than 14,000 stores throughout Japan, knew it would have to look outside its own walls and bring in innovation from the outside. When it became increasingly obvious that “innovation won’t happen in the meeting room” and it had to embrace mobile to create stronger touch points with the customer, it opened a Lawson Open Innovation Lab last October 2017. Within the lab, based in Shinagawa, Lawson members and partners are encouraged to test out new, experimental technology and provide feedback on their user experience. The technology that passes this level of user testing will eventually be rolled out to Lawson’s main stores.
