Solving Problems by Sharing Ideas
The Wired website noted that Waze, the popular GPS-based traffic and navigation app is just one of many examples of how everyday people can solve problems by sharing new information and new ideas. Open innovation—applications and projects that connect people with common interests to share in some goal—can present solutions to real challenges like traffic jams by drawing on the knowledge, creativity, and expertise of citizens. But it’s an approach that is too often underutilized, particularly in government.
