The Different Faces of Open Innovation
The Innovation Management web site posted an article by Wim Vanhaverbeke who noted that the vast majority of the examples of Open Innovation can be categorized as new products/services that are offered through existing business units, sold through existing distribution channels and in some cases are just an add-on to existing products. Other open innovation examples represent products that provide a better technology for an existing application. However, open innovation has the potential to be deployed as a viable innovation approach for a broad range of innovation objectives.
