The Inverted U-Curve of Open Innovation
MDPI posted a study on the relationship between open innovation and firm performance. This study revealed several pieces of evidence about the various complex relationships between open innovation and business performance, from a game of life simulation, mathematical modeling and simulation, an aircraft industry patent analysis, and causal loop modeling. The three different open innovation effect models and the one real industry analysis show the concrete context of the equivocal and complex aspects of the relationship between open innovation and business performance. One important conclusion of this research is that the impact of open innovation on business performance is very dynamic and appears in unpredictable forms.
