Collaborative IP in the Era of Open Innovation

This has led to the increased importance of open innovation. Open innovation does not involve the royalty free use of IP but rather involves collaborative working between Intellectual Property owners to develop new products. This necessarily involves the sharing of background intellectual property in the form of patents, trade secrets, Trademarks, design rights and copyright to create new bundles of products.
