Overcoming the Similarity-Complementarity Dilemma in Open Innovation Partnerships
The AOM Journals website posted a research study which noted that despite the increasing interest in open innovation and the vast body of literature, the way firms select partners is not fully understood. We aim to fill this gap in the literature by investigating the selection process using a qualitative approach. We base our findings on data from ten case studies, expert interviews, and secondary data. Specifically, our study shows that in different stages of collaboration, different mechanisms and criteria are at play.
