Toward a New Understanding of Open Innovation : Focusing on Interaction Complexity and Modes of Innovation
The SNU Repository posted a study which noted that there is a need for a deeper understanding and discussion of open innovation and performance that companies undertake in the real world. The business environment for innovation has been changing. Technology is becoming complex. The sophistication of innovation is increasing due to the promotion of convergence between heterogeneous industries. The exigency of external collaboration and the level of openness has risen. Interactions within the open innovation ecosystem have increasingly become complex. A company improves the efficiency of innovation by simultaneously performing cooperation with various partners; the role of each innovator is diverse according to the needs of society and the company uses this aspect strategically. However, open innovation research does not sufficiently reflect the complexity of interactions according to changes in the innovation environment.
