Business Model Innovation in Strategic Alliances
The Wiley Online Library posted a study of business model innovation which noted that Henry Chesbrough was the first who distinguished between open and closed business models. The term ‘open business’ was originally used in the context of collaborative innovation research but was used more broadly later on referring to all aspects of the business model. Collaborative innovation calls for new, open business models which facilitate the sharing or licensing of technologies. Present collaborative innovation research mainly looks at how the integration of diverse stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and competitors improves technology development and thereby advances product innovation.
