Understanding the Effects of Social Capital on Social Innovation Ecosystems in Latin America
The International Review of Sociology published a study based on the analysis of two pioneering experiences tackling poverty in Latin America: Socialab (from Chile) and Compartamos con Colombia (from Colombia). Both cases are social innovation hubs that promote open innovation processes. Socialab practices open and disruptive innovation, seeking to generate a new model in the co-creation of solutions in the fight against poverty. Socialab is the most widespread open innovation platform in Latin America. It has more than 285,000 affiliated creative professionals in the social sector, with 15,782 registered social innovation ideas and 68,000 visits per month to its website. Compartamos has been a pioneer in the implementation of open innovation competitions and participatory community innovation methodologies.
